Meet Jon Cope
Certified Real Estate Consultant

In 1988 Jon Cope joined the Beverlywood Merrill Lynch office, shortly after it became Prudential California Realty. In 90 days he earned several awards presented to him at the Beverly Hilton Hotel, those were: Rookie of the Year, Multi-Million Dollar Club and Leading Edge Society. 

In 1990 when the market went flat in Los Angeles he moved to Prudential Carmel, California and took up where he left off breaking the office records in listings and sales. He then moved around joining Independent and Major Brokerages in a concerted effort to learn how other firms conducted their businesses. In 1996 he became a California Real Estate Broker and opened his own Real Estate Brokerage, two years later he opened up his Mortgage Loan Brokerage company and did extremely well in both endeavors.
 

Jon moved back to Los Angeles in 2001 with his Real Estate & Loan Brokerages and dealt solely with Film and Music celebrities. In 2004 he closed down his Brokerages and went to work as a Broker Associate at the Coldwell Banker Beverly Hills South office, within the first six months he was given the Diamond Society Award.
 

In 2005 he was hired as Manager of the Coldwell Banker Wilshire Real Estate office. In 2006 he joined the Coldwell Banker Beverly Hills North office.
 

Jon Cope re-opened his Boutique Brokerage in 2011, to serve a select group of clientel: Business & Corporate Investors, and Buyers and Sellers in the Entertainment and Banking Industries.

Jon Cope Helped Us When No One Else Could or Would

My partner and I bought a townhouse in Hayward, California in 2004 with an adjustable loan. We were led to believe in two years time, we could get a fixed rate. Well, that never happened. And in December, 2008, my partner quit his job, thinking he would get a better job and the next week, the Great Recession hit.

The next several years were full of denied modifications, bankruptcy, falling behind on our homeowner dues, threatened foreclosures which were pulled, moving out when threatened with foreclosure twice and thinking this is finally it, and having to deal with "friends" who needed a temporary place and stayed a year and a half. During this time, our mortgage was sold several times and we lost track of who purchased the Second Mortgage. The Home Affordable Act was no help for us either, since they don't deal with bankruptcies. We tried twice to short sell, but both times each real estate agent abandoned us.

The last mortgage note holder, Specialized Loan Services, denied us another modification and posted a foreclosure. Of course they said, we can apply for another program. A flyer came from Jon Cope in the mail. I decided to give him a call, figuring we had nothing to lose.

This call turned out to be a Godsend! Jon found a buyer, negotiated on our part with Specialized Loan Services and the Homeowners Association, both of whom were "playing hardball." He found out who held the Second. It took approximately six months, but we were able to walk away with HUD money which we split with the buyer.

Although I never met Jon in person, my partner did. He said he was different in person, rather quiet and reserved. But I heard him dealing with the HOA and SLS, and he was a fierce advocate for us. I truly appreciate what Jon did for us, especially since this turned out to be a difficult process. Trust me, the mortgage holder and the homeowners' association do not have your best interests in mind!
I highly recommend you hire Jon if you are considering a short sell. He is well worth the telephone call.
